Have you ever thought that a sports frame could wear an evening dress? And that a car to be used every day is contained in the design of a pure coupé?
Whether you have thought it or not is not very important, the fact is that all this is there and it is called Rome, Ferrari Rome. Because? Because the new Maranello coupé is inspired by the lifestyle of Rome in the 50s and 60s, the Dolce Vita: lightness and pleasure of living. But which hides a double soul behind the refined bodywork, a V8 turbo heat engine with a power of 620 horsepower, which together with the 8-speed gearbox develops a maximum speed of 320 km / h and a 0-100 sprint in just under 3 seconds and a half.
In short, a real Ferrari, to be pushed if we want, we can lead it through the curves with great softness, comfortable in the seat, as if we were driving any other car, but if we recall its horses, Roma makes its sound heard and if we sink the foot, he replies.
This new Coupe 2+ (i.e. 2 seats plus two other mini seats) with mid-front engine, is equipped with top-level driving assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control or 360-degree camera that give even further comfort. The man-machine interface is really surprising for its ergonomic controls and aesthetics. A central 16-inch digital screen houses the instrument panel, while another 8.4-inch vertical touch screen houses the infotainment, climate, navigator, music, telephone. And there is also room for the passenger, who in front of him can control the behavior of the Roma from his dedicated touch.
The Ferrari steering wheel, as always, is a world apart, always according to the philosophy of hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. The button for starting the car and the traditional 5-position lever to select the driving mode are housed here; on the right spoke a small touchpad with which to control the central screen and on the left spoke the controls for voice commands or adaptive cruise control
Design matter: The Ferrari Roma has pure lines, we would almost say absent: in the minimalist front with a totally reinterpreted grille and then with powerful shoulders that rest on the rear fender, a trunk rear, with the headlights that give up the typical circular element to develop horizontally.
To ensure aerodynamics at speed, just to underline its sporting soul, the spoiler. But where? If you look at it you can’t see it, the purity of the forms should not be affected. But there is, we assure you: it is an active spoiler, integrated in the bodywork, which rises automatically when we increase the engine rpm. In conditions of maximum opening, above 250 km / h, the wing opposes a resistance of 4%, in the intermediate position of about 1%.
